What happens when contemporary dance meets freerunning? “The Fear Within” is 22 minutes of dynamic movement, emotion and unexpected combinations. Two performers, spectacular acrobatics and a moving set will transform the space at VIVO! into the stage for an extraordinary performance.

About the performance

In “The Fear Within”, Jelena Kostić explores the tension between control and freedom, and between safety and risk. How do we find a balance between the need for change and new challenges, and the desire for control and certainty? How do we make decisions when we are expected to behave in a certain way, while feeling an inner urge to escape? What are we willing to risk or sacrifice in pursuit of ecstasy?

For the first time in her career, Jelena Kostić has created a duet for two male performers, bringing together dancer Błażej Jasiński, with whom she regularly collaborates, and internationally acclaimed freerunner Alex Laman. By combining contemporary dance with freerunning, the artist explores the boundaries of freedom, thrill-seeking and adrenaline.

It is a story about control – the desire to have it, the need to exercise it, and the inner impulse to lose it.
