Vodafone Romania, a division of Vodafone Group Plc. is the first telecom company which launched the GSM network in Romania, on the 15th of April 1997 and at the same time the first operator to introduce the 3G services.

In 2010, Vodafone launched the 3G services in the 900 MHz frequency, providing access to mobile internet for 90% of Romania’s population with speeds up to 21.6 Mbps.

On 30 June 2012 Vodafone had 7.798.411 customers, as the business market leader in Romania.

Vodafone Romania is involved in the local community through the Vodafone Foundation and corporate responsibility programmes such as supporting the emergency medical service SMURD or the national programme for blood donation.

In the 14 years of activity, theVodafone Foundation has financed over 600 programs for children, the elderly, the poor, the disabled and the victims of natural calamities.
