SUBWAYSUBWAY® restaurants are famous for American sandwiches made in front of customers and according to their wishes, commonly called SUBs. SUBs are composed of fresh vegetables, meats and sausages on freshly baked bread.
The history of the SUBWAY® brand begins in 1965 in Bridgeport, Connecticut (USA). It was there that a resourceful seventeen-year-old, Fred DeLuca, opened "Pete's Super Submarines", a bar with submarine sandwiches to earn money for college. He was helped by his friend, Peter Buck. The restaurant gained popularity quickly, followed by the opening of further restaurants, with the name was abbreviated to SUBWAY®. The following years were a success story, a franchise system was established which allowed the chain to grow rapidly; in 2010 it became the largest food chain in the world in terms of the number of restaurants.
